Vanessa Jane Whay Takes the Lead as Principal of BSKL
The British International School of Kuala Lumpur (BSKL) is led by Principal Vanessa Jane Whay, an experienced international education leader with more than 25 years of experience across British international schools.
Ms. Vanessa has held leadership positions across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Central America, including at both established and founding schools. A graduate of the University of Cambridge, her experience spans academic leadership, school improvement, curriculum development, safeguarding and international accreditation.
She also serves as Vice Chair of the Association of British Schools Overseas (AoBSO) and is an experienced British Schools Overseas (BSO) Inspector.
At BSKL, Vanessa’s leadership approach places academic rigour alongside student wellbeing, strong relationships and continuous school improvement. She believes successful schools are shaped not only by academic outcomes, but also by the quality of teaching, collaboration and the ambition they inspire in students.
Her priorities for BSKL include continuing to strengthen academic standards, communication and partnership across the school community, while ensuring students are supported through a strong sense of belonging, wellbeing and inclusion.
With extensive experience leading British international schools across different regions, Vanessa brings a broad international perspective to BSKL as the school continues its development in Malaysia.
