Marlborough College Malaysia

Established in 2012, Marlborough College Malaysia (MCM) is a leading, co-educational boarding and day school for pupils aged 3 to 18 years. Situated on a sprawling 92-acre campus in Iskandar Puteri, MCM is a not-for-profit institution that reinvests all resources back into the school to ensure a purposeful educational experience. The College was recently awarded International School of the Year by both TES (the Times Educational Supplement) and the BSA (Boarding Schools’ Association).
The College’s extensive grounds are central to its identity, featuring a lake, outdoor classroom, and a farm, alongside an Olympic-size swimming pool, climbing wall, and dedicated tennis and netball courts. With professional cricket, rugby, and football pitches, the Marlborough College Malaysia campus allows pupils to balance a rigorous British curriculum, including IGCSEs and the IB Diploma, with extensive sporting and outdoor opportunities.
Within this vibrant community, a commitment to holistic growth ensures that Marlburians graduate as confident, versatile individuals.

What are your school hours?
+Lessons across the College commence at 8:30am, with pupils required to arrive between 8:00am and 8:20am for morning registration. Lessons conclude at 4:15pm, with the exception of Nursery in the Pre-Prep School, which has an optional earlier finishing time of 3:30pm. Before school, activities start from 6:30am and after school activities generally run from 4:30pm to 5:30pm.
What are your class sizes?
+Prep School: Class sizes are small with a maximum of 20 pupils.
Senior School: Class sizes are 20 pupils on average, although IB groups (Years 12 and 13) are generally significantly smaller. Tutor groups are approximately 12 pupils.
What Before and After School activities are offered?
+A wide variety of activities are offered to pupils across the College encompassing academic, music, performing arts and sport. Many of these activities are available at no additional cost, such as book clubs, drama, athletics, football, musical choirs and ensembles. Activities involving specialist coaching and equipment are available at a nominal charge including ballet, dance, gymnastics, fencing, tennis, taekwondo and judo. Activities on offer are subject to change.
How much homework do pupils have?
+Prep School: This builds in intensity from daily reading in Early Years through to a set programme of tasks to support their transition from Prep School to the Senior School.
Senior School: Pupils have approximately 1.5 hours of homework from Year 9 (Shell) which increases as they approach International Baccalaureate (Years 12 and 13).
Are there exams in the Prep School?
+Pupils in Prep School are continually assessed throughout the school year, both formatively and summatively at the end of units of work. Assessments are carried out to provide a baseline once children have settled into the start of the year.
Pupils in Years 7 and 8 sit more formal examinations in the Summer Term (April – June). They provide an opportunity to learn how to revise and work effectively in a test situation, in preparation for future years.
Does MCM arrange a Pupil Visa for my child?
+It is mandatory under Malaysian law for all expatriate pupils enrolled in MCM to have a Pupil Visa to study in Malaysia. A Guardian Visa is for one accompanied parent to live in Malaysia with the pupil. The Visa can be applied to one of the parents. Once offered a place at the College, our Student Visa Affairs Manager will liaise with your family to facilitate.
Is there support available for non-English speakers at MCM?
+All prospective pupils come for an assessment in which their level of English is identified. There is support available depending on need through a variety of options provided by our EAL department. The Accelerated English Programme (AEP) provides a highly focussed adaptation of the curriculum based upon language acquisition. Pupils have in-class support as they transition to the mainstream and 1:1 support is also available. It is worth noting that for pupils to enter external formal examinations, their English needs to be at an appropriate level or they will not flourish at MCM. Please note that additional lessons in EAL (for children who have not yet acquired the language skills necessary to fully access the British curriculum) are provided at an extra cost and are not included in the school fees.
Do you have a Learning Support provision?
+MCM are able to support children with moderate learning needs depending on their needs. This may be by providing additional in-class support, some small group lessons or using the skills of our Speech and Language therapist. Please be aware that additional lessons in Learning Enrichment (for children with specific learning or behavioural difficulties) are provided at an extra cost and are not included in the school fees.
What boarding options are available for my child?
+There are a variety of boarding options available for pupils from Year 5 (9 – 10 yrs) and above as follows:
Day boarding: three consecutive days of boarding enabling pupils to experience living in a boarding house.
Weekly boarding: arriving on a Sunday evening so prep/homework can be completed and boarding through to Friday afternoon at the end of school commitments.
Full boarding: full boarders stay throughout the week and at weekends, going home during school holidays and scheduled Exeats.
Do you have much bullying? What is your anti-bullying policy?
+No school can claim to have no bullying behaviour, but we have a zero tolerance policy where all pupils are educated about signs of bullying and how to stand up for themselves or others. Communication is at the centre of this and support for both the victim and the child who is exhibiting this behaviour. There are a variety of strategies used to move all individuals forward.
