Vanessa Jane Whay

Principal

Vanessa Jane Whay brings over 25 years of international education and school leadership experience to The British International School Kuala Lumpur, having led high-performing British international schools across the Middle East, Central America, Europe and Asia. A graduate of the University of Cambridge, she has experience leading both established and founding schools, with a strong focus on academic excellence, school improvement and student wellbeing. Vanessa also serves as Vice Chair of the Association of British Schools Overseas (AoBSO) and is an experienced British Schools Overseas (BSO) Inspector, with expertise spanning governance, safeguarding, curriculum development and international accreditation. Her leadership approach combines academic rigour with strong pastoral care, collaboration and a commitment to ensuring every student is supported to achieve their potential.
